Would you eat a cricket?

Friday, March 7th, 2008

Thailand definitely has some challenging culinary delights. I have seen people munch away on these like potato chips. Possibly a good source of fibre?

Who needs a television?

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

I never get bored of sitting on the beach watching the world go by. The weather has cleared up a bit so the sunsets are much nicer now. I took a lot of pictures tonight, but this one is my favorite. I haven’t done anything to modify the picture - I just like it how the boy looks like he is glowing.

Slight detour

Friday, February 15th, 2008

I am back in Asia now after almost two months in Australia. I am now in Koh Chang, Thailand. It is my fourth time here. Each time I come here it is more expensive and there are more resorts. It is the tail end of the high season now. Seems to be a lot of Europeans around.

Koh Chang is only five hours away from Bangkok, so it is pretty convenient to get to. I also want to go to Chiang Mai and then from there I will make my way to China.

First trip for 2008

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

I am back now in Bangkok after spending a couple of months with my family in Australia. I bought a Canon Digital SLR just before I left and after using it here in Thailand I have had a small problem with it.

So my first thing to do has been locating the Canon repair center in Bangkok. For the record the address is:

Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
10th Floor (Camera Fixing Room), Bangkok City Tower,
179/34-45 South Sathorn Road, Thungmahamek,
Sathorn, Bangkok 10120

Phone: 0-2344-9888

To get there you need to go to Chong Nonsi and get off at exit 2, walk towards the footbridge and cross the intersection. Bangkok City Tower is on your left once you cross the foot bridge.

Hopefully, I will be able to pick it up by tomorrow so I can continue with my travels.

Hat Yai

Saturday, September 8th, 2007

Just arrived in Hat Yai not to far from the border with Malaysia. I was hoping to get to Malaysia today, but the wait for a ferry back to the mainland was over two hours.

I missed a connecting bus so will be bedding down here for the night. I will be arriving in Penang by lunchtime tomorrow.

It’s hard to believe I have been in Thailand for nearly two months now. I am looking forward to eating a good Laksa.

Sunburnt in Koh Lanta

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

After a whole day of rain which flooded the place, the sun hasn’t stopped shining since. I got a bit carrried away in the sun the other day and got a bit sun burnt. I have been very careful not to get burnt on this trip, but the pool at my bungalow is pretty nice and it looks right onto the sea across to Krabi and Phi Phi Island. The sunset last night was pretty amazing. I don’t have my card reader on me now so you will have to wait for pictures.

I can take a bus and a ferry to Lang Kawi in Malaysia from here which I am thinking about booking. I say thinking, because I have found another beautiful place to stay in which I am in no hurry to leave.
